River-To-River Relay Southern Illinois

This is our River To River Team. We did it about 3 or 4 years. River-To-River is a great relay race in Southern Illinois every year. Eight runner teams run a total of 80 miles across the southern tip of the state beginning in LaRue Pine Hills on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River Valley. The course is structured in different legs and points where each team member hands the baton to the next team member. Team members must be assigned specific legs before the start of the race. In this picture, taken at the finish, we are standing on the dock at Golconda a town in Pope County, Illinois, along the Ohio River.

This race is so popular that it usually fills the year before each year. The number of teams has to be limited because of congestion on the roads.
