Running Lake Shelley In Raleigh NC

While on vacation in Raleigh, NC Julie and I ran on the trail at Lake Shelley. Located on Millbrook Road this 53 acre lake is good for watching wild life including ducks, fish and turtles.
The asphalt, tree-lined, well-shaded trail was ideal for running. Beginning with a wide wooden bridge from which several people were feeding ducks the tree shaded trail winds through tunnels, over bridges and beside creeks flowing into the lake. Through the trees in some places you can see houses up on the hillsides.
The day Julie and I got there was hot and steamy but soon began to rain in torrents quickly soaking us. The brooks on the sides of the trail filled with the heavy rain gushing and splashing their way into the lake.
The temperature was very hot and humid but energized by the cool rain we had a very good run despite the weight of our soggy shoes.
Very nice 4 mile run.
