Scrub Shirt Scramble & Canal Connection
I think this cooler was in my packet for the Scrub Shirt Scramble. I think it was a 10k race that ran between Methodist and Proctor hospitals in Peoria, IL. I don’t think they have had this race for several years, but it was one of my favorites. I remember one year I ran the 10k in 46 something. That is a PR, which still stands and will probably never be broken now. I just loved running down this long straight away, I am pretty sure it was Glen Oak Ave since it went past Glen Oak Park. I recognized if from having ran the Steamboat there. In a way it was a let down since after the race I heard one of the course monitors did not direct anyone into the park so it was short course. Wouldn’t you just know it, I get this great PR and it is a short course!
The water bottle jacket is from the Canal Connection, another of my favorite races. This great race runs down the old towpath from the Hennepin Canal it is a beautiful running along beside the water in the fall with the trees turning colors. If you have never done this race you should. It starts in Utica, IL at the grade school where they bus you to the start line and you run back. One of the many outstanding races put on by the Starved Rock Runners.
