Remember The Oglesby 10K?
Remember the Oglesby 10K, whatever happened to that race? I thought it was great 10k, ran on mostly blacktop roads in the summer, I think. Afterwards they had beer and you didn’t have to wait in a long line. Then you could spread your blankets out on grassy field while they threw door prizes out into the crowd. It was a great race that a lot of people came to. I wonder why they quit having it?

Oglesby 10 K
My recollection is the Sarvers (Art and Barb, I think) just got burned out and couldn't find anyone to permanently take the race over. It was one of our favorites.

Yes it is a lot of work to put on a race. I wish we had more people willing to do it.

I agree. I did this race
I agree. I did this race back in 1987 also (I still have the button) and have great memories of it. The townspeople set up chairs along the course and cheered. Some of them also had sprinklers on for the runners. The race was broadcast on the local radio station. There was a band and a festival afterwards. I also remember part of the course veeering off the road onto a small dirt, inclined path, but for just a moment. Anyway, right as I finished, the band was playing Centerfield, which is a song by my favorite artist, John Fogerty, so I have good memories of that as well. I'm sorry it is no longer run, as I'd love to do it again someday.
