Logan County-Lincoln Christian College
It was only a two-miler and it was held at 4 p.m. on a Friday night, but there aren't a lot of races in Logan County, so I chose to do this one. It was called the Run for Your Life race and it was nice. It was a real family affair, with only about 100 runners/walkers, most from the college itself. I really appreciated the prayer and the National Anthem before the race. The woman who sang the anthem did a great job. It was also nice because I had never seen the campus before and it is very charming.
As far as the race itself, I did it in 16:33. The last time I ran a timed two mile race was 23 years ago in the Army, when I ran in 13:10. Had I really pushed this time, like I did back then, I maybe could have knocked a minute off my time, but losing three minutes over 23 years isn't too bad.
This was my 15th county so far. Only 87 to go. I don't think I'll have the opportunity to run another race for a while, which is a shame because there are a lot of interesting ones coming up over the next month or so. Still, I'm on pace for knocking out 10 to 12 counties this year, which would be good.
