Courses follow forest trails, and have long level stretches with some steep hills, although ascents are tempered by switchbacks. 5K race has only one, long hill. Trails are "extremely well marked" according to frequent runner. Trails groomed for safety. Four water stops, with radio communications.

Five Trails Half Marathon

1st Half Marathon in the 1st City of Kansas

The Five Trails Half Marathon is USATF Certified Loop Course through Leavenworth, Kansas that celebrates the pioneer spirit that made Leavenworth the door to the west. You can join the early pioneers by blazing a trail on the "Pikes Peak of Leavenworth" between miles two and four- our own version of Boston's Heartbreak Hill. The gentle rolling hills throughout the remainder of the course are reflective of Leavenworth's terrain along the banks of the Missouri River.
